Behind the Scenes: CUPC on-set, filming for Transformers
The LaMartina Varsity Day
Founded in 1873, CUPC is the oldest surviving polo club in Europe and second oldest in the world. Our annual Varsity Match against Oxford, established in 1878, is the oldest continuing polo fixture in the world and is now played at the iconic Guards Polo Club.
CUPC is a polo club for undergraduates and postgraduates, as well as staff and alumni, of the University of Cambridge. Our membership is comprised of a diverse and inclusive group of ambitious and motivated individuals, from all corners of the globe and a broad range of backgrounds.
CUPC provides lessons with professional coaching based at our home club, Cambridge Polo Club, alongside a lively social scene for social and playing members alike. Competitve matches take place both at home and away, with regular fixtures against other Universities and clubs. We cater for players of all levels, from those who have never ridden before to the seasoned player, and everyone inbetween. CUPC's objectives include winning major fixtures (experienced players), developing promising individuals into competitive athletes (novice players), and introducing people to polo (beginner players).
We aspire to make polo accessible for our members and this is possible thanks to private donations, brand licensing agreements and sponsorship. Currently, CUPC's major sponsor is the leading international polo brand, La Martina who, amongst other significant contributions, host our Varsity match at Guards Polo Club.
CUPC is managed by our Executive Committee, assisted by our Advisors.
