_________
Our iconic Varsity Match, the oldest continuing polo fixture in the world now held as part of the La Martina Varsity Day alongside a high-goal Queen’s Cup match, is fast approaching on the 5th June at Guards Polo Club.
We are thrilled to confirm that spectators will be allowed, however, it will be a closed ticketed event with specific requirements and tightly monitored restrictions in place this year due to the ongoing coronavirus situation. To this end, all attendees must comply with coronavirus guidelines issued by the government and event-specific directives issued by CUPC, OUPC, La Martina and/or Guards, else they will be asked to leave. We are working hard to ensure the event is as wonderful as ever, despite coronavirus, so please help us in doing so by carefully reading all communications prior to the day, and following signage, maintaining social distancing and otherwise behaving responsibly on the day.
The event itinerary includes Old Etonians v Old Harrovians, Old Oxford v Old Cambridge, Eton v Harrow, Oxford v Cambridge, Prize Presentations, Lunch and a Cartier Queen's Cup Match. All attendees will be required to register / submit paperwork to Guards Polo Club for Track&Trace purposes; if you/your guests are not part of the University asymptomatic testing programme, then it is recommended that you take a lateral flow test prior to the event. All CUPC members and their guests must comply with CUPC’s Code of Conduct. Spectators are welcome to bring their own picnic stuff, and there will also be a BBQ option (~£10 pp) available on the day.
If you would like to attend the La Martina Varsity Day you must email captain@cupoloclub.com by 12pm on 28th May, confirming/actioning the following:
The full name, phone number and email address of yourself and any guests (groups up to 6 people);
The mode of transportation for yourself and any guests, as follows:
CUPC-organised coach/bus from Cambridge to Guards Polo Club - you must also have purchased a coach ticket (£25 per person) here [insert link] by 12pm on 28th May
Self-driving to Guards Polo Club - you will have to purchase a parking permit (£20 per vehicle) on the day at Blacknest Gate to enter the venue
Self-organised public transport (e.g. train, taxi) to Guards Polo Club
We will circulate further event details, attendance instructions and coronavirus-related requirements to the confirmed list of attendees by 5pm on the 31st May.
